Frankly brilander, I do not agree with
you, unless the Bahamian lawyers are family. I have used
numerous Bahamian attorneys over the years, most from New
Providence. All are very prominent attorneys:

I would never recommend any
of them. Several of them blatantly ripped me off and in my
opinion none of them can be trusted.
If the biggest
names in Bahamian law are dishonourable, I do not see how
anyone can criticise Harald for saying so, or attempt to
defend the legal system here.
In the local media,
everybody from the Police Commissioner to the attorneys at the
AG's office have said the system doesn't work. Harald's only
been echoing that for five years.
Maybe it's time to
stop with the Bahamas cheerleading and face the fact that Mr.
Fuhrmann is right. The legal system is filled with so much
corruption it no longer functions.
The "games" being
played with the Korean boats is another example of what Harald
is talking about. Bahamians talk about Earlin Williams and
Sidney Stubbs but what about the "foreign investors" who are
being fleeced for millions in this deal.
I wonder
also, where all the people who pretend to be interested in
Harald's problem disappear to. They disappear like the files
that recently disappeared in the Coroner's investigation of
the fire at the Willie May Pratt Centre for Girls.
canesfins seemed so interested in getting to the
bottom of Harald's accusations, like so many before him. But
now he is too busy, like so many other lawyers in town.
A day will come when Bahamian lawyers will not be too
busy to listen to Harald. But that day may come only after
foreign investors stop coming to the Bahamas because of all
the stories they've heard about getting ripped off here.
In the meantime, I agree with a post I saw earlier. If
you are a lawyer in the Bahamas, and you are NOT tremendously
concerned about what has happened to Harald Fuhrmann... then
you are part of the problem. | |
