[ About the Bahamas ]

For hundreds of years, The Bahamas has maintained a wonderfully rich, colorful history and peaceful way of life.

Now a small segment of the population is putting it all at risk.

The beauty and spirit of The Bahamas is disappearing ... the islands and the water are no longer clean and pure ... people and animal species are dying out at a terrifying rate ... waste is piling up ... people everywhere suffer from crime, injsutice, pollution, corruption, drug trafficking and risks to their health.

It needn't be like this. Since Independence, in 1973, various groups have attempted to lead the way in putting forward positive solutions to these and many other social and environmental problems. Yet, the situation has only worsened, despite millions of dollars being spent by successive governments.

The www.boycottbahamas.com website is attracting international attention to the incompetent, insensitive, corrupt and disreputable government, making all Bahamians look like a nation of greedy, insensitive pirate bafoons, when truthfully, only 70 persent of the population fits into that category.

Take the widly popular boycottbahamas, add to it 50 derogatory Web sites like www.bahamas-international.net.tc or www.bahamas-info.net.tc created by a ripped-off foreign investor, spice it up with the international reputation of our pirate-like judicial system, sprinkle it with our ever increasing crime rate, add a pinch of money laundering and financial crimes, throw in a dash of international copyright violations and top it all off with the human rights violations, contained in various Amnesty International reports like http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAMR140042003 , and you've got a great recipe for the failure of a nation......

We need to do it better and the sooner the better because there are thousands of people who share the conviction that Bahamians, and visitors alike, deserve a Bahamas that lives up to it's advertising slogans, we are determined to move forward, upward, onward together to make it truly...
